Mail Order Plants and Plant Names

Thank you for finding my site.  I hope that you will come back often for that special occasion present and you enjoy reading about house plants for delivery straight to your home.

House plants add so much warmth to your home, and great oxygen builders too.  When you have a few plants in your home you can be assured that you’ll have fresh air to breathe.  There are just a few things that you need to be aware of when you get your plant home.  This article will discuss those needs.

The very first thing that you need to know is how much water should each of your house plants require every day?  You can find out from reading the directions that came with your mail order plants.  If you didn’t get them delivered to your home, then you can go online and find out exactly how much water each of your house plants needs by doing a search.

The second concern that you might have are infestations of bugs, insects or mites.  This is a very good reason to get your plants delivered from a very reputable nursery.  The plants that you order are guaranteed for a year to be healthy and bug-free when arriving at your house.

There is one other concern that might come up.  That is if some of your house plants that already existed in your home, make sure that these are healthy before your new plants arrive.  You can do this by inspecting their leaves, especially the underside of the leaves.

One way to make sure that your house plants don’t have bug infestations is when you bring your summer plants into your home for the winter.  This is the time to make sure you inspect them for bugs using these small precautions, that way you will considerably downgrade the odds of insects attacking your plants.

Here is a list of some of the most common infestations of bugs you need to be aware of:

1.    Aphids suck the sap out of plants.
2.    Mealy Bugs suck the sap out and plants and trees.  They leave a honey substance which attracts ants.
3.    Mites suck the sap out of plants.  They are microscopic, so look closely at your leaves.
4.    Scale insects attack ornamental plants and suck the sap out of plants and foliage.  They leave a sticky honey dew substance that attracts ants and causes the plants to droop.
5.    Thirps rip and tears plants and blister.  Thirps like blooming things, so make sure you check your blooming house plants often for this insect.
6.    Whiteflies gather on the back of grass and suck the sap out of the leaves.

If you stay on top of your checking for insects, you should end up with very healthy house plants.

It is not essential to add fertilizer because the topsoil will have enough nutrients for the plants.  When you see leaves that have turned yellow or brown, make sure that you take them off and throw them away.  This is a necessary point that you need to do because if they are left to stay on the plants, they will draw some insects that you really don’t want.

Signs to watch out for are lack of green color, if the leaves are turning yellow or you see actual bites on the leaves.  Also, don’t forget to always inspect the underneath of the leaves.  If you see any clumps of bugs, you’ll need to take appropriate action to eliminate any of them.

So again, if you order your plants online and have them delivered to your house, your house plants are guaranteed for a year to be healthy.  You can always call the nursery on their 800 number to ask any questions and get your answers immediately with no guesswork.

One of the great advantages of ordering your plants online is if you have a relative who is lives far away, and if it is their birthday or any occasion, remember that you are only a few clicks away from having a beautiful gift delivered right to their door, fresh, alive and gorgeous.  What gift fits every occasion and will last for years better?
